1. Ritual Cosmos – Introduction to the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition of
Shamanism
“The world of the Pachakuti Mesa carrier is not a world to know, to study,
grasp or gain insight into, but a world to
live in, to participate in, to be part of, to collectively fashion, make,
enhance, and co-create.” don Oscar Miro-Quesada
The Pachakuti Mesa Tradition of cross-cultural shamanism was originated by
don Oscar Miro-Quesada, respected kamasqa curandero and altomisayoq adept from
Peru.
In this workshop, we will define the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition (PMT) which
emphasises both personal and planetary healing. This practice involves ritual
and ceremonial mastery of the mesa (altar) as passed down through the lineage of
Peruvian curanderos. The mesa is an altar-like arrangement of empowered objects
(Artes), a shamanic tool which is used to engage enlightened beings and elemental energies for restoration
of balance, health and harmony between humans, other dimensions, and our natural
world. Mesas are used for healing, ceremony, journeying, manifesting,
divination, transformation and communion with the spirit realm. The mesa is a
reflection of you, and an extension of
your Self.
Come and create a basic mesa and begin learning how to work with
it!
2. Food for the Gods – The Despacho as Ritual Expression of Gratitude &
Reciprocity
“The creation of a despacho is a way to give back through prayer,
intention, and love; doing so is participating a reciprocal exchange that
promotes balance and interdependence” Matthew Magee
In this workshop, we will engage as a community in a uniting and healing
ceremony involving the creation of a despacho. Despacho is the Spanish word for
a ritual offering made with reverent intention in sacred reciprocity
(Ayni)
for that which has been given to us.
Despachos are most often created to honour and give thanks to Pachamama
(Mother Earth) and the Apukuna (Mountain Spirits). They can also be done as
offerings for good luck, marriages, births, deaths, prosperity, and new homes or
jobs.
